David Blatt Fired From Maplewood High At Behest of Prom King

KANSAS CITY, MO—David Blatt, the ex-coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been released from his position as head coach of the Maplewood High School boys varsity basketball team, leading to speculation that prom king, Troy Becker, was behind the firing.

“Look, I know that Mr. Blatt had the team in first place in metro, but we just wanted to go a different direction,” said school athletic director Nancy Stapleton. “Regardless, Troy had nothing to do with it; even if he is cool and really nice even though he’s also good looking.”

Blatt’s team was fresh off a drubbing at home by cross-town Monroeville, that was so egregious, with so many uncharacteristic lapses in the team’s defensive rotations, that many thought the well-liked senior Becker had told the team to throw the game, in order to ensure Blatt’s ouster.

Stapleton said that Becker in no way affected the team’s performance, even if his dad did have a cabin and a boat and an unlocked liquor cabinet.

“Monroeville’s just having a really great season,” said Stapleton.

Stapleton added that Blatt is still employed as a substitute social studies teacher while Tamera Capillary is on maternity leave.
